Hello Lovelies 🙂
November has arrived! I absolutely love this time of year the lovely colours of autumn are still here but the coziness of winter is just around the corner. When the seasons change like this for me it always feels like a great opportunity to start new routines that will help to balance and support the new season ahead as it starts to unfold. I was thinking this week what new routine i could incorporate into my life as it is now the start of November and the winter months will soon begin, and then i had the idea to incorporate a new daily practice into my life this winter.
Daily practices help us to feel aware and connected but also calm and grounded and for me it’s these feelings that keep me feeling positive each day. If i’m having a particularly stressful day (like we all experience at times) then a daily practice helps bring me back to the present moment and clears my mind abit better…making me remember that stressful days come and go and it’s the staying calm and thinking about things more mindfully that helps things not seem so bad after all or gives us that little calming break that we all need in our busy lives. Daily practices don’t have to be just sessions of meditation or yoga sessions, you can just make new little habits to invest in each day that will help to grow your spirit positively.
What daily practice will i be trying in November?
I thought it was only logical to bring my bed into the daily practice if i really want to stick at it in these colder months…. after all it is winter soon can you blame me haha. And i thought if it is something that you can do in bed then maybe it would appeal more to others too. (that’s why i am sharing this one my blog)…the coziness and warmth of your bed and you can do a daily practice there whilst your nice and warm before you have to get up in the cold! That’s where the daily practice of morning stillness fits in. Something that i can easily do when i wake up before i get out of bed. It’ll help me to feel connected, calm and give me a sense of happiness which will start my day off in a positive way…Perfect.
Morning Stillness Daily Practice
Morning stillness is where you remember what you are grateful for upon waking, simply giving yourself a few minutes of stillness and reflection. You can do this when your still all warm in your bed…
and it doesn’t have to take more than a couple of minutes, so even more perfect for those of you who have extremely busy days. Doing this for a few minutes will give ourselves the space we need to fully wake up from our dream world and also set us up for the day with a positive outlook before we step into our day to day roles. So this November i am going to try and stick to waking up each day and reflecting to myself one thing that i am grateful for and one goal that i will set for the day ahead…If you want to try this too don’t feel like it has to be super amazing things, try to focus more on the simpler (but still incredibly important) things;For example – It could be as simple as being grateful for a roof over your head and the intention of giving anyone you have connect with that day your full attention and simply just being present with them fully (instead of letting your mind wander.)
By doing this simple practice for a few minutes each morning and distilling our thoughts it will help our minds to focus at the beginning of the day, will give us a space of positivity and will remind us of everything that is well in our lives in this ever changing world.
