Morning Lovelies!

April’s Glossybox this month is all about nostalgia. The box is based on inspirations from the past generations like the 50’s, 70’s and 80’s with their signature looks like the cat eye and more.

KARL LAGERFELD – MODELCO Baked Blush – Light Beige – Bold and daring blush of the 80’s to the more natural blush look we have in trend right now. This baked blush brightens and highlights all complexions. It hasn’t got a retail price yet as this product is a Glossybox early exclusive. It is a pressed powder in the shade Light Beige. It is a pretty shade however does apply very sheer. The swatch is of 3 swipes of the product overlapped. But i guess sheer does show that it is more of a natural radiance. Not too impressed with this product if i’m honest because if i wear highlight i usually go for the more ‘popping’ ones…. like the “is my highlighter blinding you yet?” look haha. And i would opt for a matte blush not a shimmery one. But i can imagine some people will be happy to of received this product. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

AFFECT COSMETICS Matt Effect Transparent Loose Rice Powder – I had no idea what rice powder was until i read the description on my Glossybox card included in the box. Rice powder is a combination of mica and rice starch which apparently gives a lovely matte finish. I think some people will prefer this to Banana Powder as that can sometimes be too yellow for people’s skin-tone. It will be interesting to see if this works and is a good makeup setter. It retails for £9.35 for 10g of product and is a loose powder by a brand i haven’t heard of before AFFECT COSMETICS. I think this is an interesting product discovery but my favourite powders are the Laura Mercier ones so it’ll be hard to compete with that standard i think. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

EYEKO LONDON FAT Liquid Eyeliner – This was the product that i was most excited to receive as this was March’s sneak peek item. This is a Liquid eyeliner that retails for £16 for 3.5g. Heavy liner never goes out of fashion and eyeliner is still on trend all the time. I love trying out new eyeliners as i have yet to find one that i am in love with. It’s apparently smudge free and the fat felt tip end i can imagine will make winged eyeliner work like a dream. Hopefully this eyeliner lives up to it’s smudge free claim. Looking forward to trying this one out and seeing how i get on with it as I’ve never tried out a thick nibbed eyeliner before. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

MODELLAUNCHER Safari Bronzer – I am super dissapointed with this item in my box. I received this exact item in a past Glossybox. I understand boxes will sometimes repeat items but i really didn’t like this bronzer the first time. I haven’t done a swatch this time as i am going to be giving this bronzer away. It’s got a very cute design of leopard print and retails for £20 for 10g however, the reason i didn’t like before was because i don’t like having a mix of colours in my bronzer…i prefer one solid colour and some of it was abit shimmery in places and i prefer a matte bronzer. This has a talc-free formula and apparently suits every complexion. Was not impressed though with receiving a past box item and it does again like before say Not for resale on the back…so don’t really know what that’s about. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

CARMEX Strawberry Lip Balm – This item was okay for me, it is a lower priced item for £2.79 for 10g and i do already have my favourite lip balms that i use but it’s always nice to try a new one i guess. This is a brand that has been making lip balms since the 80’s which is surprising because I’ve honestly never come across this brand before! It has a delicious scent of strawberry and the lip balm does what any lip balm should do protect and moisturise your lips. I love that this lip balm has SPF15 included as most lip balms forget about including SPF. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Overall, this box did not impress me much. But last month’s box was super super amazing and exceeded my expectations that i haven’t given up hope just yet….i will keep my fingers crossed that Glossybox redeem themselves next month. Although saying that when you sign up to receive beauty boxes you already know it’ll be a bit hit or miss some months. It’s such a shame they put in a repeat item as that really made the box contents low for me. The only product i am excited about was the eyeliner but that retails for £16 so on a positive note i still got the full price of the box and more for that one item. How did you find the Glossybox this month if you received it? Did you get any different products? I will be very interested to know. Have a lovely rest of your Sunday and thank you for reading!

  1. Thanks for sharing your box. I love the Eyeko eyeliners. I’ve tried the thin and medium. Both were great and are now my go to eyeliners. I hope you like them. It surprised me that you’d never had Carmex. As it was a staple growing up in the 90s, and my mom still uses it daily. I wonder if it was just more popular in the States vs the UK? It can have a strong flavor. I’ll be curious to know if you like it.

    1. I’m glad you think so 🙂 Yeah it’s been abit hit and miss so far this year however last month’s box was incredible! I think it’s best to see if you like the items yourself from past boxes enough to subscribe XO

  2. I agree – I got some different products to you, including a lipstick and a micellar water, but overall I wasn’t that impressed with the products. I don’t think they’re bad products as such, just not the kind of thing I’d use and they weren’t as exciting as the other boxes I’ve had from Glossybox this year. Hopefully the May one will be better!
