Today i’m reviewing an eye cream that i purchased about a month ago. I adore Mac products and hadn’t known they did skincare products too. I have been on the lookout for an eye cream that has some beneficial ingredients and that’s when i thought i would give this one ago. I wanted to share my opinions on this product as it might not be your typical brand you would look at when thinking about eye creams.
Claims – An eye cream by Mac that will reduce puffiness, under eye shadows and give the eye area a bright and natural radiance. Added Vitamin C to give skin it’s brightened effects. Good primer for eye makeup too.
Ingredients – I thought i would include the full ingredient list for anyone who is interested as for me it is pretty important reading what is in something before you apply it to your body and it’s good to know. If you aren’t good at reading ingredient lists as the words can be scary long, a good idea is to read the top ones listed the tops 5 are usually the bulk of the formula. The higher up the ingredients are they have the higher concentration in the product, but that doesn’t mean that other ones at the lower level are less effective as Collagen boosting peptides are effective at low levels so it may be listed lower down but it is still great. Also have a look out for the words in brackets as that tells you what some of the long words are.
Water\Aqua\EAU, Butylene Glycol, Polyethylene, Polyperfluoromethylisopropyl Ether, Caprylic/Capric/Myristic/Stearic Triglyceride, Methyl Gluceth-20, Glycereth-26, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Cetyl Esters, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Dimethicone, Caffeine, Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hypnea Musiciformis (Algae) Extract, Gellidiela Acerosa (Algae) Extract, Yeast Extract/Faex/Extrait De Luvure, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria), Ginko Biloba Lead Extract, Polybutene, Glycerin, Sodium PCA, Phytosphingosine, Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate, Trehalose, Dipeptide-2, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Sucrose, Silica, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Urea, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Simethicone, PEG-8, Polyquaternium-51, Steareth-20, Sodium Hydroxide, Sucrose Stearate, Carbomer, Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, Ascorbyl Tocopheryl Maleate, Phenoxyethanol, Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77499)
My Ingredient Thoughts – The reason to buy a skincare product is for the benefits of the ingredients included and what benefits it can give your skin. So that’s why i am including a review part on solely the ingredients included. I am mostly impressed by the good blend of antioxidants, cell-communicating and anti-irritant ingredients included. I love all of my skincare to actually have good beneficial ingredients if i’m spending a decent amount of money on it so this is the reason i chose to try out this one. The most worthy of attention ones in here are; Caffeine, sodium hyaluronate, ginko biloba, sodium PCA and several peptides. The Lightful C part makes me think of Vitamin C for some reason but this being included is amazing for skin as it is a powerful anti-ageing nutrient because it can rebuild collagen aswell as other great things. But annoyingly MAC have chosen a more unproven form of Vitamin C (aminopropyl ascorbyl phosphate) I did abit of research on this and i found out that it is a form of Vitamin C has barely been studied with regards to any benefits on the skin. It would of been better for Ascorbic Acid to of been included or Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, but that would be my only con about the ingredients if i had to pick one.
Overall Thoughts – This eye cream cost me £27. Not cheap but definitely not one of the expensive eye creams out there. I think it is a great price for what is included in the product. Not only does this have a wonderful blend of antioxidants, cell communicating and anti irritant ingredients the formula is fragrance free too! This is the better option for any skincare but especially brilliant for the eye area.
When i applied it i noticed that it seeps into the skin very quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy finish. It even has a slight luminescent finish to it that might of been the reason that they included the ‘Vibrancy’ part in the name however, it is very very subtle and only noticeable if you were really looking at it on the skin (which i have been doing to get an accurate review.) It applies sheer and i would say it’s brilliant if your looking for a lightweight lotion for under eye area rather instead of a rich textured moisturiser. With it being a nice light lotion it makes eye makeup apply like a dream as it glides on so smoothly. I would say though that this may not be what you are looking for if you suffer from very dry skin around your eyes as you probably would need a richer texture.
The actual packaging of the pump is the best for a cream. This plastic pump style bottle protects the product inside (air and light sensitive ingredients) from exposure that would of happened due to contamination of fingers. Because this pump can just squirt onto your finger there is no need to be dipping your fingers in like you would a jar and therefore bacteria will not enter easily. The pump works perfectly it dispenses just the right amount of product which means none goes to waste as too much product doesn’t squirt out. I think this is a great point too.
I am super impressed that Mac have designed an eye cream that leaves out all of the negatives like a bland formula, fragrance in the product, bad jar packaging (allowing bacteria to get in and air and light sensitive products to weaken their benefits.) There are so many eye creams on the market who have all of these included and therefore aren’t worth the money but this definitely is! This product has really been working well for me and i will continue to use it as my daily eye cream as i have noticed a difference in smoothness to my skin, slightly brighter and just looking overall more refreshed and moisturised. I know there is that whole debate that goes on about do you really need an eye cream? as people say face creams can be applied to the eye area etc…But for me i think an eye cream is important as your eye area is the first to show signs of ageing and is the most delicate skin you have so for me it needs to be pampered properly. You may be happy to use a facial cream all over which is perfectly fine as not everyone wants to buy an eye cream, but eye creams are a great option for giving your face that extra pamper whilst knowing that you have some great ingredients doing there thing on that specific area.
If you love to use eye creams in your skincare then this one is worth considering trying out for sure!
