Different Ways To Self-Nourish Your Body, Mind & Soul

Afternoon Lovelies,

When thinking about nourishment I’m sure alot of people think about different types of food and although that is one good way to nourish yourself true nourishment goes beyond just the edible stuff. Nourishment is also found in daily self-care rituals too. If you think about it living a healthy and happy life involves nourishment not just for your body but also for your mind and soul aswell. A nourished life is built with a fulfilling career, personal passions, loving relationships, a good balance everyday (with exercise, stress managed, good amount of sleep, eating nutritiously.) All of these elements put together create a nourished life and they ultimately satisfy your soul and your hunger for life, so down below I have written a few different ways in which you can self-nourish your body, mind and spirit.

Relationships/Connections pexels-fauxels-3184183 (1)Nurture relationships with your family and friends… pursue the ones that make you feel good about yourself and start to set boundaries with the ones that are draining your energy so you can enjoy fulfilling and beneficial relationships with others. Also seek out new meaningful connections too, perhaps join a club/group who enjoy the same hobbies as you or do some volunteer work in your areas of passion to meet likeminded people. Making new meaningful connections really does nourish your soul.

Environment pexels-taryn-elliott-3889926 (1)The environment in which you are in can have a big impact on how you are feeling with your moods and energy levels. So if you are stuck inside all day…get outside, smell the fresh air, feel the breeze, let the sunshine warm your body, even take your shoes off to feel the grass between your toes and the ground underneath your feet. There is so much evidence for the benefits that nature and being outdoors gives us so reap these wonderful and free benefits daily.

Move pexels-tirachard-kumtanom-601177It’s a known fact that movement boosts your endorphins and this helps you to feel energised and it keeps the oxygen circulating through your body so you can feel alive and revitalised. So go on and add exercise into your day to day life to feel that boost.

Sleep Sleep is a healer and we all could do with abit more sleep in our busy lives. When you get a good nights sleep you wake up feeling refreshed and restored in your body and mind so make sure to get a decent sleep each night to feel fully ready for the next day ahead.

Mindfulness pexels-elly-fairytale-3822622 Of course I had to add this in as mindfulness has been incredibly beneficial to my life and I know to so many others too. Practising mindfulness daily brings you back to the present moment and you start to focus more on the here and now. It brings more nourishment into your life with the everyday experiences like; hugging a loved one, washing the dishes, gardening, cooking and cleaning etc… you end up appreciating all the activities no matter what they are.

If you have any other ideas or suggestions about self-nourishment then please share them down below in the comments, like always I love to hear from you all.

Love, Charlotte

  1. I think of nourishment in a much more holistic sense these days too. I definitely think environment plays a big role – I think I’ve become more acutely aware of that as my anxiety & OCD tendencies have piqued during the pandemic and we’re stuck at home. Excellent suggestions – such a warm, positive post! xx
